Volunteer

The Metas Program is always looking for dedicated volunteers with a passion for helping the youth in our community. There are many ways to volunteer with our program. If you would like to contribute in a way that is not listed, please feel free to contact our office.

Tutors

Since 1987, Metas is heavily based on college-student tutor volunteer work. Through great volunteers we have been able to foster an intergenerational relationship with the tutors and our students. The college-bound environment that our students are exposed to has promoted an increase in college attainment. Everything we accomplish is due to the commitment of our tutors and we are thankful to everyone that has passed through our doors.

To be a Metas tutor you must meet the following requirements:

  • Commit to volunteering on all Metas Saturdays for the academic semester (usually 2 Saturdays from 10am-12pm)
  • Commit to completing tutor orientation, tutor training, and attending the tutor retreat
  • Complete a Contra Costa College Volunteer Packet and meet the volunteer requirements
  • Complete a Metas Tutor Interview
